Bro. Teoh Kian Koon graduated from the University of Malaya in Civil Engineering in 1979. He has been a spiritual practitioner cum ‘Meditator’ since 1971.
Since his retirement in 2001 from his Engineering career he had been sharing his spiritual understanding and experiences with all those who are keen in their search for true happiness, peace, liberation from birth and death and all mental suffering to become a more virtuous, nobler and wiser human being.
It is Bro. Teoh’s hope that Dharma friends, spiritual practitioners, seekers of Truth and cultivators will be able to make use of his sharing of the truth to develop a better understanding of life to help others and be of great blessing to all of humanity.
He had also counseled and helped many people with severe depression, Karmic condition, career, health, marriage, financial, separation and relationship problems, to recover beautifully via his sharing of the rather penetrative Dharma/Truth (as taught by the Buddha) with them.
He gives dharma talks, conducts dharma cum meditation classes and meditation retreats at various meditation centers and places that invited him. He also conducts weekly meditation cum dharma classes at Wu Ping Chin Seah, a Mahayana vihara (every Sunday) and at Subang Jaya (every Thursday). He also conducts a weekly Dharma sharing/discussion class with a group of very serious spiritual friends every Tuesday night at his Petaling Jaya, SS2 residence. He also organizes and led many spiritual cum tour trips to various spiritual places of importance for his Kalyanamittas.
Bro. Teoh was invited to present an international seminar paper on ‘Life Management with Meditation: Experience and Success’ at the International Seminar dated 10th to 12th August 2013 held in Bangkok, Thailand. The Seminar was co-organized by the World Buddhist University (WBU), the World Fellowship of Buddhists (WFB) and the Pipphalivanaram Mindfulness Center (PMC).

WHO IS BUDDHIST GEM FELLOWSHIP(BGF)?
Buddhist Gem Fellowship or commonly known as BGF started in 1980’s to promote the growth of Buddhism and create a better world for all beings. We started as a “Graduate Fellowship” but change the name to “Gem” to look into growing needs of our community.
WHAT IS BGF’S HISTORY & BACKGROUND?
Every year thousands of young Buddhists graduate from universities and colleges, but their talents go untapped. This was a big loss to the Buddhist community. Without new ideas and involvement from graduates, Buddhist societies could only run routine activities that attract a small crowd.
BGF was formed to redress this problem back then. Its purpose was to gather young graduates as well as working professionals for spiritual friendship and enhance their knowledge and skills for Dhamma work. Since then, BGF has grown from strength to strength and embraces all various groups. Our roots are in the Pali Tradition and we are non-sectarian in our approach.
WHERE WE STARTED?
We started in a single storey house in Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya and moved 6 times. Our former location for 14 years was in Section 17, Petaling Jaya (bordering SS2). We have moved for the 7th time to our new permanent home, BGF @ Ara Damansara since Wesak 2014. Come visit us!
WHAT IS BGF MOTTO, MISSION AND ACTIVITIES?
BGF plays a pivotal role to bring about the "Transformation of the Malaysian Buddhist community". Our motto is “Growing People, Inspiring the Future”. For over a quarter century, BGF has been nurturing Buddhist leaders. It organizes many programs with impact on Buddhist communities within the country as well as internationally. BGF also organizes camps for undergraduates, trains leaders to speak effectively in public, runs courses on counselling skills, and conducts training courses for Dhamma speakers. It runs weekly meditation sessions and organizes talks and public forums by local and international Dhamma speakers. Its innovative programs and approaches are adopted by other groups within as well as outside the country. Many of its early members had pioneered the formation of other Buddhist societies in the country.
HOW DOES BGF INTEND TO “TRANSFORM THE MALAYSIAN BUDDHIST COMMUNITY”?
We plan to transform the Malaysian Buddhist community through our "Eight Areas of Focus".
WHAT ARE BGF’S EIGHT (8) AREAS OF FOCUS?
We focus on eight core areas of activities that will paved the way for the transformation of the Malaysian Buddhist community. They are:
i) Buddhist Education
ii) Counselling Services
iii) Creative & Performing Arts
iv) Dhamma Propagation
v) Research and Publication
vi) Spiritual Development
vii) Training & Leadership
viii) Youth Development

The Drukpa Kargyud lineage originated in the 11th century A.D. as a subdivision of the Kagyud tradition. The unique teachings transmitted through the Kagyud realization lineage are distinguished as the "Six Yogas of Naropa" and the oral pith-instructions of Mahamudra. Supplementing these teachings, the Drukpa Kargyud school also offers special meditative instructions known as "The Six Equal Tastes" and "The Seven Auspicious Teachings". The lineage descends directly through the enlightened masters -- Tilopa, Naropa, Marpa, Milarepa, Gampopa, Phagmo Drupa and Lingchen Repa. Lingchen Repa Pema Dorje, famed as the Saraha (a revered tantric sage) of Tibet popular for his psychic power, was the spiritual teacher and guide of the 1st Gyalwang Drukpa, Tsangpa Gyare Yeshe Dorje. The Gyalwang Drukpas are revered primarily as incarnate embodiments of Arya Avalokiteshvara (i.e. Chenrezig in Tibetan or Kuan Yin in Chinese) and Mahasiddha Naropa. The present Gyalwang Drukpa, Jigme Pema Wangchen, is the recognized 12th incarnation.
