Purpose –  I am willing to share my 20 ha of forested land so that others may live and work in native forest and with Nature, guided by Buddhist philosophy.

Teachings  Available Here  – I am willing to teach some forest meditation to a willing student, based on my experience of daily meditation practice since 1982.

My Buddhist Background - I trained at the Buddhist Society of Vic in the 1980’s under Dhammika, attended a variety of Buddhist meditation retreats in the 80’s and 90’s, attended talks each week at the BSWA throughout 1995, 96 and 2002,  and I trained in the Buddhist monastery 99-01.

My Approach to Buddhist Philosophy – is non clerical; I adapt Buddhist ideas out of their original religious setting and into a form that reflects my own experience of following the Path since 1982.  I am most influenced by the writings of Eckhart Tolle, Shakti Gawain and Harvey Jackins.  I refer to Nyanatiloka’s works.

My 11,000 word treatise on http://noldorathforestcomm.weebly.com  defines my approach to Healing and Spiritual Practice.

Location - 25 km SW of Gin Gin, 4 hours drive North of Brisbane, in the foothills past the coastal plain.

Facilities - simple,  close to Nature  -  BYO camping gear and/or borrow mine

Transport - I can email you “Directions when Driving”.   Or I can pick you up from Gin Gin.  The train arrives in Bundaberg in late afternoon – you might have to sleep the night on the roadside when hitching from the train station.

Cost – by donation and/or your labour contribution.

Meditation and inspirational readings - as needed by those present.

Contact me  by email if you’d like to stay here, and detail your experience in Buddhism and/or meditation, and whether you’re fit for manual work (a man’s work!) or willing to pay for the Council rates ($40 pw) instead, and whether you’ll bring all your own camping gear.

Notes and Events:

We offer you an opportunity to read and learn about Buddhism in the Theravada tradition. Theravada (Pali: Thera=elders, vada=doctrine) or the "doctrine of the elders" represents the school of Buddhism that draws spiritual inspiration from the Pali Canon (or "Tripitaka") generally accepted by scholars as the oldest record of Buddha's teachings.

Imparting knowledge with a view toward developing and improving another's knowledge is Dhammadana in Buddhist terminology. The Buddha teaches us to appreciate the value of wisdom since it is the most valuable asset for a living being: hence, the need for us to develop our minds, as well as to help others to develop their knowledge.

There are two ways to achieve this end. One is by reading extensively on Buddha Dhamma. The other is by questioning that may invariably lead to discussion. It shall be our   endeavour to provide satisfactory answers to such queries.

Notes and Events:

The NZ Bodhi Study Group was founded in 2007. Most of the group members live in Auckland.

Of central importance in Buddhism study is to engage in systematic study to lead to correct conceptual development. The courses we take offer the basic, essential teachings; these include:

Prajna , Tibetan Pure Land Method, and Dzogchen

Master Khenpo SoDargye is the vice head of Seda Larong Wuming Buddhist Institute. Under his guidance, following the teaching system of Han monks, the NZ Bodhi Study Group involves free teaching and group study via the internet (language is Mandarin) . Specifically, you will receive systematic Exoteric and Tantric Buddhism teachings from Master Khenpo SoDargye, as well as tutorials from teaching monks. This involves either local group study or participation in on-line study group.

General Aims:

· Teaching and practice (equally important)

· Propagate Buddhism to benefit all the sentient beings

· Participate in charitable events and practice Buddhas spirit: compassion and altruism

Since the foundation of the study group, in addition the courses as above, we have taken part in the following: live broadcasting of the four grand Buddhism Gatherings of the Institute via internet: the Vajradhara Dharma gathering, the Dewachen Dharma Gathering, the Dharma event of the Kishitigarbha retreat, and the great Dharma event of Vajrasattva retreat.

Social and Charitable Events:

· Distributing Dharma books, DVDs, blessing goods from Master Khenpo SoDargye and other Masters of Seda Larong Wuming Buddhist Institute.

· Care for others: In modern society, due to high-pressure living, lack of balance between mind and body, a lot of diseases arise in human beings. In addition to traditional life care, we also advocate the healthy living style involving both the body and mind. If interested, we encourage people to study and practice Buddhism systematically using prostration and meditation – to help one realize the bad effects of negative thoughts and unhealthy lifestyle. The goal is to change ones attitude to their surroundings to achieve a happy, healthy life. In the meantime, we refrain from killing, set animals free, and occasionally hold free Chinese treatment and acupuncture for injury, and other activities for healthcare.

It is better to act than speak. We hope more people will join our group. Let us cooperate together to benefit all sentient beings, follow the path of Mahayana Bodhisattva. We also hope more people will open their heart through getting to know Buddhism, and you will consequently live a more peaceful, enjoyable life by reading your heart.

Notes and Events:

Newark Center for Meditative Culture (NCMC) is a diverse urban meditation community serving the Greater Newark Area in New Jersey. From 2012 through 2016 we served as an informal community initiative until we then formed a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 2017. Most of our programs have been held at art galleries and in nature at parks. Our programs are based on secular and spiritual teachings from Buddhist and other wisdom traditions, within the context of the socially engaged, multi-cultural and diverse population of the Greater Newark Area. Our programs comprise of meditation classes, daylong retreats, sitting groups, and workshops. We engage too through Compassionate Activism. We are active in supporting local community events and making presentations in order to educate the community about meditation. NCMC is a volunteer-run organization with a strong commitment to openness and inclusion. We do this in two ways:

Diversity/Expansiveness: Our intention is to offer both general and specific programs for specific groups of people and issues. Thus far we have had focused-programs and retreats related to People of Color (PoC), women, and children. The PoC retreats especially are intended to provide an affinity group for individuals who daily confront the effects of oppression and racism, and who therefore may initially choose to avoid mixed programs.

Inclusiveness: All of our programs are offered as donation-based no-fee to the participant. Instead, we invite all participants to make voluntary gifts to the level of their ability, sometimes with suggested donation amounts. NCMC disperses the donations equitably between teachers and venue providers. We base this system on the practice of dana or generosity, which is inherent to many spiritual traditions. See Giving.

Our Mission
To form a meditation community based on the secular, universal principles and practices of Buddhist-based psychology/philosophy, applied through both traditional and contemporary means, along with ancestral, yogic, Taoist, Sufi, and other wisdom teachings and disciplines. NCMC is intended to be a safe place where like-minded people can gather in order to practice the fundamental meditation methods of tranquility, insight, and loving-kindness (metta), and to become engaged together in conscientious, compassionate, and contemplative activities as a group and in the local community.

Our Vision
To be an inclusive community of practice, study, and social engagement that provides a refuge for all people who seek meditation and spiritual development and a purposeful, conscientious lifestyle.

Our Goal
To develop a center with a dedicated meditation community committed to practicing together and supporting each other and to maintain the culture of this center so that all can feel welcome. We intend for it to take shape both through leader guidance and organic means according to the wants, needs, and conditions of the community. Our founding members are committed to furthering our spiritual growth and leadership capacities through ongoing practice and education in order for the organization to develop fluidly and become self-regulating. By engaging teachers and advisors with deep knowledge and practice in Buddhist philosophy and meditation, other wisdom disciplines, and community immersion, we can ensure that we maintain integrity.

Tavor and provides training for people who are interested in learning about and practicing vipassana meditation. The center is open to new and experienced practitioners all year round.

The Newman Society was founded to promote Dharma in Israel by means of the establishment and maintenance of a Buddhist Center for the practice and teaching of vipassana meditation, under the guidance of the venerable Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo (one of the best known teachers in Thailand) for as many practitioners as possible. Ajarn Ofer Adi,an Israeli monk and disciple of the venerable Ajarn Tong, is resident head monk and teacher at the Ein Dor center, devoting his time to guiding practitioners and teaching Buddhism. The society’s future aims include providing facilities and accommodation for monks and teachers from other Buddhist traditions. The Society operates in the same manner as the teaching of the practice at the center – on the basis of generosity and donation not for profit or benefit.

Phra Ofer Adi is a monk who been practicing vipassana meditation for 16 years at Wat Lampang Wat Chom Tong in Thailand under the instruction of Ven. Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo. Phra Ofer taught for several years in Israel before becoming a monk in Thailand 6 years ago followed by several years as monk and teacher at a Buddhist temple near Frankfurt Germany. Notes and Events:

The Newmarket Meditation Group (NMG) meets regularly at The Old Stable House Retreat Centre in Newmarket (Suffolk, England). This fine venue, standing in its own secluded grounds, provides ideal facilities for walking and sitting meditation sessions and overnight accommodation for weekend retreats.

The group welcomes newcomers to meditation as well as old hands. The Newmarket Meditation Group is run by Richard Prangnell and Rosie Hitchins, who are both experienced meditators and at different times they have both been Resident Lay Managers at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery.

Even though the system followed is the same method as taught by the Buddha, the NMG is open to followers of any faith (or none). The NMG offers all comers the opportunity to simply give authentic, Buddhist style meditation a try. If all it does is help to reduce your stress level, then surely that is a positive result!

NMG sessions are invariably informal and easy-going. There is plenty of comfortable seating and lots of space for floor sitters (if your knees can take the strain!) and wheelchairs.

Meetings last about 2 hours with time divided equally between walking meditation, sitting meditation, group discussion and listening to a talk by a meditation master.

All of our practices and services are based on the teachings contained within the Lotus Sutra as well as the writings of Nichiren Shonin.  The following five practices are taken from the Lotus Sutra.

  1. to receive and keep the Sutra in ones body and mind
  2. to read the Sutra
  3. to recite the Sutra
  4. to share the Sutra with other
  5. to copy the Sutra.
In keeping with these practices, we hold a chanting meditation service every Wednesday and a traditional temple service with dharma talk on Sundays.  Retreats and classes on basic Buddhism, the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren Shonin\\\\\\\'s writings are also offered.  We chant the Lotus Sutra in shindoku [our faith language--Japanese pronunciation of Chinese] as well as in English [for understanding].  Our primary practice is chanting Namu-Myoho-Renge-Kyo [devotion to the Sutra of the Lotus Flower of the Wonderful Dharma].
