The Buddhist Council of Victoria is a representative body that acts on behalf of Buddhists in the Australian state of Victoria. It is actively engaged in representing the needs of Buddhists to all levels of government, provides speakers for interfaith dialogue and works widely with the community.
It has approximately 40 member temples and has been in operation since 1995. The Committee is elected annually from delegates from the member temples. Principal activities including the introduction of Buddhist education into primary schools and chaplaincy for Buddhist prisoners. We also produced a booklet on palliative care, Buddhist Care for the Dying.

Buddhist Education Services for Schools Inc. (BESS) is a not for profit association that recruits, trains and supports Buddhist teachers to share the wisdom of the Buddha with children in years 3-6 in the Religious Instruction program in Queensland government schools.
We have recently developed a four year cycle of lessons that are shared with the children in years 3-6.
The objectives of our curriculum are to teach students about the values and attitudes consistent with the Buddha's teachings, and to enable the children to learn life skills based on those teachings. We include gentle meditation techniques in a safe environment that are built upon an understanding of why meditation is axial to Buddhist practice. Tuesday Evening Meditation or Buddhism Class (7-9pm) is a series of courses that combine theoretical exploration of Buddhist teachings with guided meditation practices.
Wednesday Lotus Buds Sangha Meditation Class (7:30pm) is a Buddhist group led by the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh (a Zen monk) who has lived in the west for the past forty years. Beginners are most welcome.
Thursday Power Yoga and Meditation (6:30pm) is an “hour of power” combines the practices of mindful body movements through yoga and meditation, suitable for intermediate practitioners.

The Buddhist Vihara of Queensland is situated on 2.5 acres of bush-land setting in Goodna on an elevated land. Its native vegetation along with ample wild life creates serene and calm surroundings, with the stone Buddha statue in meditation posture in front of the main building. The main building houses the shrine room with a beautiful Buddha statue, monks quarters. Disability access is from the back of the building. Toilet facilities for the visiting public are located at the ground floor area. The place can easily accommodate 500 visitors during a major festival. The veranda around the upper floor of the building provides ample space for a quiet sitting for meditation.
Visitors from all walks of life and religious beliefs are welcome to visit the temple. All the residents in the immediate neighbourhood consider the temple as a valuable addition to the forest setting of the area. They all appreciate the harmless, non-invasive and peaceful life of the monks and the devotees. It recommended that one should visit the temple just to experience the ambiance of the place.
Sensible attire with white or lighter colours is welcome. While at the temple, speak little and act in a disciplined manner.
Silence is the key thing for the cultivation of mind.
Alms giving for the monks have been arranged for the days of the month. Please telephone the resident monks to organize alms giving for a special occasion.
A future development plan has been approved by the Ipswich City Council. This includes better parking facilities, access roads, a meditation hall, Sthupa and a Bodhi Tree Precinct. Donations are welcome to help develop the temple.

International Buddhist Cham Shan Temple of Australia is a Buddhist Temple of Tiantai School situated in Morisset, located in the Central Coast of NSW.
The temple was founded in 1995 with the goal to serve the Australian community through Dharma teachings (teachings of the Buddha) and spiritual guidance.
To build the temple a piece of farm land was purchased in 1996, and through many hardships, it has developed into what it is today. The Chan Meditation Centre extends a warm welcome to all those interested in learning about Chan Buddhism and the Mahayana Buddhist tradition. The centre aims to maintain an active Sangha community dedicated to the preservation and practice of Chinese Buddhism.
