Shambhala vision is rooted in the contemplative teachings of Buddhism, yet is a fresh expression of the spiritual journey for our time.

We offer a large range of classes and events for newcomers, those interested in exploring a full path of practice and study, and our more advanced students. We also host community gatherings and celebrations. We endeavor to put into practice the principles of courage and compassion. This helps us to experience daily life as a constant opportunity for spiritual practice and social service.

Meditation is a natural state of the human mind—at rest, open, alert. Mindfulness meditation is the foundation of all that we do at the Shambhala Center. This ancient practice of self-discovery is rooted in the simple but revolutionary premise that every human being has the ability to cultivate the minds inherent stability, clarity and strength in order to be more awake and compassionate in everyday life.

So that we can deepen our appreciation, knowledge and experience of the Shin Buddhist teachings and practices, we use readings from various Buddhist books and multimedia. In addition, we recognize the importance of practice, therefore, at the beginning of our gatherings we Go for Refuge in the Three Jewels, do inspirational prayers, practice sitting meditation and sacred chants using the Om Mani Padme Hum and Juseige chants. Even though our studies emphasize the Buddhist teachings and practices, we are open to the entirety of world spirituality.
